Frequently asked questions

Prices and process

How much does 3D printing cost?

Price depends on material use, material type, print time, setup and any finishing. Our price calculator provides an indicative price based on an actual slice. We follow up with a non-binding quote after reviewing the file, usually within 24 hours.

How long does a 3D print take?

Standard PLA and PETG orders usually take 2–4 working days. Larger parts, fine layer heights and extensive finishing take longer. Express prototyping may be possible by arrangement.

How do I place an order?

Send us a file or photo with dimensions, intended use and quantity. We check printability, recommend a material and orientation, then send a quote. After approval, we print, inspect and ship or arrange collection. You can start with the online calculator.

Do you print small production runs?

Yes, from a few parts to several hundred with a consistent profile and sample checks. Larger runs are quoted individually.

Can I collect my parts in Munich?

Yes, collection is possible by appointment. We can also ship across Germany.

Materials

Which FDM material suits functional parts?

PETG is a common choice: tough rather than brittle, resistant to moisture and mild chemicals, and suitable up to around 75 °C. For higher temperatures and outdoor use, consider ASA; for wear, PA; for extra stiffness, PA-CF; and for flexible parts, TPU.

Which materials withstand heat?

Approximate values are PLA 55 °C, PETG 75 °C, ABS/ASA 95 °C and PA or reinforced materials 120–140 °C. Actual performance depends on the part and its load. See our material comparison.

Which material is suitable outdoors?

ASA is UV-stable, colourfast and frost-resistant. PLA and PETG can become brittle over time outdoors.

Are 3D printed parts food safe?

Some PLA and PETG types are compliant for food contact. Printed surfaces have microscopic grooves, so we recommend dry contact or a suitable coating, not dishwasher use.

Are 3D printed parts strong?

They can be, when material, wall thickness and print direction suit the load. Parts are stronger in the layer plane than perpendicular to it, so orientation matters.

Files and technology

Which file formats can I upload?

The calculator accepts STL, OBJ, 3MF, STEP and STP. IGES is not accepted directly at this time. We can repair minor mesh issues during preparation.

Can I order a print without a 3D model?

Yes. We can work from a photo, hand sketch or description and create a printable model. CAD design is part of our service.

How accurate is FDM printing?

A typical guideline is ±0.2 mm or ±0.2% of nominal dimensions, depending on material and part size. Tighter tolerances may require machining allowance and finishing.

How large can a part be?

Maximum size depends on the process, geometry and orientation. Send us the outer dimensions and we can check whether the part can be made in one piece or in sections.

Scanning and confidentiality

Can you scan and reproduce a broken part?

In many cases we can scan a physical part and use the data for CAD reconstruction or reproduction. Suitability depends on its condition and geometry; send us photos and a short description first.

How do you handle my files?

We use your files only to prepare and fulfil your order, do not share them with third parties, and do not use them for our own purposes. We can sign an NDA on request before receiving files.
